Miramar Black History Celebration ~ Arts & Craft Festival

Please join us at Mirama Black History Festival february 25th at the Miramar Town Center. It will be a day of music with “Old Skool Gang”, playing hits from the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s with past members of such bands as KC and the Sunshine Band; “Sons of Mystro”, two violinists who put a new twist on some classical music, “Rhythms of Africa”, an all musical performance by Chisseko of Kenya who will transport you 8000 miles away to a small village where a welcoming concert is about to begin. You will listen to the kalimba, congas, flute, talking drum, shaker and chigubu. Before you know it you will be out of your seat dancing and singing Harambee! Chisseko will also share an insider’s view of daily life in a traditional East African village thru an interactive program which engages you through art, music, artifacts, language and storytelling in “Passport to Africa.” You will also have the unique opportunity to see and purchase arts & crafts from some of our local talented people. There will also be inflatable rides and face painting for the children. Food and novelties will be available for purchase. Plan on bringing the whole family to the Miramar Town Center at 2300 Civic Center Place on Saturday, February 25, 2012 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm for a day of fun and entertainment; just don’t forget your chairs and blankets.
