can i throw my ex out of my house?

He has no job. And he keeps stealing my money from the house as well as writing checks to bounce my account. He’s a bipolar and I feel unsafe and scared to live with him. The house is in my name. No lease. He has no cash or job so I don’t know what to do.

Divorced? Call the lawyer who represented you. Do it NOW. Get an order of protection.

In some States if a divorced couple spends one night together after being divorced, the divorce becomes null and void.

    Ryde.On says:

No , if he’s been residing there he does have some rights , If you want to get him out w/o breaking the law you’ll need to formally evict him.

Just like men can’t kick women out ,,, neither can you kick him out .

BTW , with no job , no money and ill just where do you expect him to go ?

If he’s not I the jose, you can have him legally evicted. These are grounds to have the law remove him so you don’t risk him trying to return.

i already answered your question with legitimate knowledge and u continue to inquire without providing the correct information – if he is registered at your address (mail is delivered to this address) u can not throw him out in the street – he will get a policeman and come back. it does not matter to whom the house belongs and who is paying the bills. u give 30 days eviction notice to him, after that u can throw him in the street if he does not vacate on his own volition. and i suppose if he is writing checks he IS registered at your address. so what is the point in asking on yahoo answers? are u asking a permission of yahoo members? this is stupid.

    Trolly Z says:

In response to Ryde. On: it isn’t her responsibility to care for her ex. She’s most likely been doing it out of kindness, but she feels unsafe and is perfectly within her rights to throw him out without providing for him. He is a grown man who is leeching off of a clearly more independent woman who is no longer in a relationship with him, and he steals substantial amounts of money.

It is not Lady’s job to care for a deadbeat, whether he is ill or not.

    Now, to Lady:

If he is registered at your address, you cannot simply kick him out. Give him 30 days eviction notice, and if he hasn’t left, then evict him. There is a legal process; I’m not sure where you live, so I can’t really tell you.
